A Year of Unpredictable Wonders: 15 Heartfelt Reflections - Part 2

Reflections and insights deepen our understanding of experiences and emotions. In contemplation, we can recognize lessons from joy, sorrow, triumph, and challenge. Every event, however small, shapes our lives and influences our path. Embracing these experiences can help us cultivate gratitude for the present and clarity for future decisions, fostering connection with ourselves and others.

Here is the second part of this year’s insights, presented as suggestions, mainly to myself, where I can come back to when I need a gentle reminder. Maybe you'll read them in a moment when you find them helpful.

Taking time for self-care will do you good, especially in times of upheaval.

This might be something very small like washing your hair, sitting down for a short meditation or going for a walk. Take some time for yourself, especially when you feel you don't have time. That's when you need it the most.

Allow your breath to be your anchor and guide.

Allow it to bring you back to the present moment. This can help if you have the tendency to replay the past in your head or to be anxious about the future.

What are three things you are grateful for?

Name them upon waking to set the tone for the day.

Sometimes the process of life is faster than a blink of an eye. Sometimes, however, it can be very slow. Allow this process to unfold. Don't try to rush it.

Differences make us unique.

They are the manifestations of the richness of our deeper self. Approach this richness with curiosity and an open mind. It brings texture to life that can make you feel utterly alive.

We don't know the hidden challenges other people go through in their lives.

Put yourself in someone else's shoes before judging them. Judging leads to more division, while kindness and compassion lead to more peace and harmony.

If ever in doubt, choose love.

Finally, thank you to all who have been there for me and supported me this year: in thought or in action, with your words and hugs, with your good intentions, by listening to me, by lending me your car or a helping hand.

Thank you for all the kindness and love, which came in more forms than I can recount here. I remember who you are and I am grateful to you.
