We experience the seamless, unimpeded flow of everything that arises and dissolves within the reality-sphere that is the mandala of our own existence. Nothing is out of place; everything gives unique expression to an infinite network of conditions that are implicated in every manifestation from the most miniscule to the most cosmic, from the most insignificant to the most magnificent.” Peter Fenner

What are mandalas and their benefits to the viewers and creators?

A mandala is a geometric design that symbolises the inner and outer, micro and macro cosmos in its wholeness, often serving as a representation of the universe or as a tool for meditation and reflection.

Traditionally originating from Hindu and Buddhist cultures, mandalas embody a sense of balance and harmony, guiding the viewer toward a deeper understanding of the self and the greater universe.

These intricate patterns can be found in various forms, from art to architecture, and are used as aids in spiritual practices, allowing us as viewers and creators to focus our minds and attain a sense of calm. The creation or contemplation of a mandala invites a journey of self-discovery and connection to the larger whole.

Mandala creation offers numerous benefits, serving as a powerful tool for mindfulness and self-expression. Engaging in the intricate process of designing and/or colouring a mandala can promote relaxation, helping to reduce stress and anxiety by encouraging a meditative state. This artistic practice fosters improved focus and concentration, as we immerse ourselves in the repetitive patterns and vibrant colours. Additionally, creating mandalas can enhance creativity and provide a deeper connection to one's emotions, often facilitating self-discovery and personal growth. Overall, this art form can be a therapeutic and enriching experience for anyone seeking balance and clarity in their lives.
